Second Medieval/Fantasy farm house

Well, actually the first one, since I built the styrene version years ago, probably in 2004.

Added timbers, and daub. Here the timbers were primed and the daub painted.

Another cheap towel sacrificed.

After a brown wash and some touching up I'm calling it finished.

FoW Soviet HMG company

Finished another FoW in 1/72 plastics unit - this time an Early War Soviet HMG company.
Front row: no less than 9 HMG bases - no such thing as too many Maxims.
Second row: supporting infantry.
Safely at the rear: the company command plus the kommissar to make sure everybody points the right way.

FoW dug-in markers

The other day I finished the first dug-in markers for my 1/72 FoW troops.
Now I'm cutting some more styrene strips, so I have a use for the leftover sand/glue mix after I've dressed up some bases.
The troops that volunteered here are early war Soviets.

FoW in 1/72 Partisans

Last night, I finished basing my partisans unit for 1/72 FoW, consisting of 8 bases, 2 command bases and a kommissar base.

Also added are four demolition teams. The official FoW list didn't call for them, but I had the figures, and I figure that they could come in handy one day.

Since the group pic is a bit hazy, I added a second pic of a command group, the kommissar and one of the demolition teams.

One day I hope to add some pack animals.

Village school paper model

The other day I finished my latest paper model a Dutch village school (though it also comes with Flemish and German signs).

As is so often the case, I found inspiration in regional surviving and disappeared buildings. Elements from several buildings were used, but the former Wildervank example below supplied the basic design.

I started off with the basic design, much easier to correct a blank model than a decorated one.

Decorating came next. I use Neopaint, which allows one to make stamps for recurring items like windows, and brick surfaces.

Black and white test print, and the colour version (a bad and a good one) of  a model sheet.

And what the reult of the above page ended up as.

Completed first test build. Not too bad, but you may notice the decorative top edge at the rear, far wing is missing. That is what test builds are for...

So, an improved final version was built.

See top pics for the finished school building.

Like all of my (well over 700) paper models I donated it to charity whose volunteer treasurer I am. It will be sold in various scales via the foundation's webshops.

Nordic/Medieval/Fantasy farm house

The other day, I finished a Nordic/Medieval/Fantasy model farm house.

It all started very simple with some A-frames, out of 4mm "beams":

Next were the walls, styrene with coffee stirrers.

Sand/PVA mix added, to simulated daub:

First build:

and primed:

The daub bits got their first paint job:

Roof added, .3mm styrene. Since the roof is far from straight, I had to work with several smaller sheets.

A cheap towel became the roof thatching. Also, the grey of the half-timbered beams were redone in grey.

The same, after a brown wash.

Base made, with a sand/diluted PVA mix on styrene.

And the finished farm house.

WWII German infantry platoon

Finished another 1/72 FoW early WWII platoon, this time Germans, with as extras some transport and a few medics.

WWII Polish infantry platoon

The other day, I finally finished my first 1/72 FoW infantry platoon: Polish.
